Unique accommodation in Los Cabos
The Los Cabos area of Baja California Sur is one of Mexico’s most popular resort destinations, attracting millions of holidaymakers each year.
The shores of Medano Beach in Cabo San Lucas are lined with luxury hotels and all-inclusives. The supposedly secluded beaches of San Jose del Cabo are home to a dizzying number of lodging options, and the Tourist Corridor coastline connecting the two towns is packed with resorts.
Practically every international chain of hotels and resorts can be found in Cabo, whether it be the Hilton or the Hyatt, the Sheraton or the Sofitel, they are all here!
But if you’re anything like me, you aren’t looking to stay in one of these chains, which are practically the same all over the world.
We much prefer to hunt out small-scale, independent accommodation options that offer an experience that is unique to the destination.
Boutique hotels have fewer rooms (and therefore fewer tourists to share with!), generally with an aesthetic design, stylish decor, and local touches. Often they’re located in off-the-beaten-path areas, outside of busy tourist hubs.
While some people view hotels as ‘just a place to sleep’, we think finding unusual stays can add a whole other element to any trip. Staying somewhere a little bit different from an ordinary hotel room can be the highlight of your trip.
Luckily, there are plenty of unique and boutique hotels in Los Cabos to choose from!
🌿 Opting for smaller-scale, locally-owned accommodation options is also a much more sustainable way to travel. Not only do boutique properties have a smaller impact on the environment, but staying local means more of your money stays in the destination you are visiting and doesn’t leak out to international headquarters in other countries.
