The charming pueblo magico Todos Santos, located in southwest Baja California Sur, is a magnet for artists, creatives and surfers.
Set against the stunning backdrop of the Sierra de la Giganta mountains and the shores of the Pacific Ocean, Todos Santos is a special place.
If you’re planning a trip to Todos Santos, you’re in for a treat.
The Todos Santos hotels are incredible.
There are so many stunning boutique hotels to choose from it is actually overwhelming. As an appreciator of aesthetics, I had major FOMO trying to choose where to stay in Todos Santos.
Let me help you make the very difficult decision of where to stay in Todos Santos!
In this post, I’ll share an overview of the different neighbourhoods you can stay in. Before diving into 12 of my favourite hotels in Todos Santos, catering to a range of budgets.

Todos Santos neighbourhoods
Todos Santos is a very small town compared to the likes of Los Cabos or La Paz. But despite its size, it is quite spread out.
The centro is set away from the beach, and new up-and-coming neighbourhoods are popping up around the area.
Nearby Cerritos Beach and El Pescadero are technically different towns but are often considered part of Todos Santos.
To confuse things even more, some of the larger hotels in the area are quite isolated and have become landmarks in their own right.
Before you can decide which hotel you want to stay in, you need to choose which neighbourhood is right for you.
To help you understand the area and decide where to stay in Todos Santos, here is a brief summary of the different neighbourhoods.
🌈 TODOS SANTOS CENTRO
The centre of town, and most likely the first place you will arrive in Todos Santos.
A well-made little grid of cobblestone streets, this is the most established area. With a ton of hotels, restaurants and cafes in the area, you’re in the heart of the action.
You can easily explore the centro on foot if you don’t have a car, but it’s not near the beach.
🌵 EL OTRO LADO
Meaning ‘the other side’ in Spanish, this isn’t technically an official area, but rather a local term to collectively refer to everything north of the centro.
Avenida General Topete runs out of the main town, and within a few minutes, you will be amongst a number of small neighbourhoods.
This area is home to a lot of Airbnbs, popular cafes and restaurants. It still feels like a work in progress, with a lot of dirt roads and new buildings going up, but it is the new and upcoming area of Todos Santos.
It is more affordable to stay here, and this is the closest beach access to town.
🐢 LAS TUNAS
Technically encompassed in ‘El Otro Lado’, Las Tunas is one of these smaller neighbourhoods that has gained more of its own name recognition, so I wanted to specifically mention it.
It’s around a 10-minute drive from the centre of town and has a number of cute cafes, restaurants and funky Airbnbs.
Playa Las Tunas is the beach where the turtles are released, and it is becoming a more sought-after part of Todos Santos.
🏄🏽♂️ CERRITOS BEACH & EL PESCADERO
Cerritos Beach is a popular surf spot, and most visitors to Todos Santos would spend at least some of their time here.
The beach has become a bit of a suburb of its own, with new hotels and restaurants popping up around it. Technically it is part of the town of El Pescadero, which is a small agricultural area about 20 minutes south of Todos Santos.
We choose to split our time between the two areas and stay in both Todos Santos and Cerritos/El Pescadero. Although many people will opt to stay in the Centro or Cerritos Beach, and travel between the two for day trips.
🚗 To see the best of Todos Santos and get around the area with ease, it is highly recommended to rent a car no matter which area you choose to stay in.
There is no public transport in or around the town, and taxis are scarce.
The centro is not on the beach, and you will have a very hard time getting around without a vehicle.
So unless you want to flop and drop at your hotel and aren’t bothered about seeing too much of the town or surrounding attractions, rent a car.
You can’t rent a car in Todos Santos itself, and you will need to pick up one from the airport in either La Paz (1.5 hours) or Los Cabos (1 hour).

In the below sections, I will share four hotel recommendations for the three major neighbourhoods in Todos Santos:

I haven’t listed exact prices because they fluctuate so often throughout the year, but rather I’ve used a rough price range:
- $ – under $100 USD a night
- $$ – under $200 USD a night
- $$$ – under $300 USD a night
- $$$$ – over $400 USD a night
These prices are approximate and can change frequently throughout the seasons and holidays. The point is to give a rough price estimate to help you find something that suits your budget. To find current rates for your dates, use the links provided for each hotel.
Where NOT to stay in Todos Santos?
Please avoid the popular beachfront hotel, Hotel San Cristobal.
A permanent fixture on any list of the best places to stay in Todos Santos, this ‘eco’ hotel is not what it appears to be from the outside.
The quirky Hotel San Cristobal has put Todos Santos on the map and drawn many tourists to the area.
But what most of them don’t know is that the hotel is part of a large American development called Tres Santos, which in short has been a mess for the environment and community of Todos Santos.
Permits rushed through in secret, shady political connections and brazen lies and deception taint the development.
The hotel was built on the shores of a public beach, used daily by fishermen. After restricting access to the beach, building a sea wall to protect the hotel, and eroding the beach, it has put their livelihood at risk.
Wetlands, which are supposedly federally protected in Mexico, were bulldozed and filled with concrete for the construction.
Despite all the praise the hotel receives, please take a minute to consider if this is where you want to spend your money. It certainly won’t be of any benefit to the local community of Todos Santos.

Where to stay in Todos Santos Centro
Staying in Todos Santos Centro puts you in the heart of the action, amongst colourful cobblestone streets, great restaurants and boutique stores and galleries.

1. Todos Santos Hostel
Todos Santos Centro – $
If you’re looking for a hostel, Todos Santos Hostel is the main option in town.
Offering dorm rooms, as well as canvas glamping tents with double beds, all options have shared bathrooms.
The hostel is located around a 15-minute walk from the centre of town and features a large communal kitchen, a garden with hammocks and very strong wifi.
The glamping option is unique for a hostel and allows you to have a boutique in-the-desert experience without spending too much.
It gets fantastic reviews from travellers, so if you’re wondering where to stay in Todos Santos on a budget, Todos Santos Hostel is a great option.

2. Cien Palmas
Todos Santos Centro – $
This beautiful property is perfectly located on a palm grove in the centre of Todos Santos.
It is all your desert boho dreams come true!
Offering three casitas, and a number of glamping tents, Cien Palmas has been carefully curated with a lot of love from its owners Mariela and Santi.
Cien Palmas is a little more expensive than the hostel, but it is definitely one of the more affordable hotels in Todos Santos, for the incredible value you get.

3. Hotel Casa Tota
Todos Santos Centro – $$
Hotel Casa Tota is the perfect blend of historic and contemporary.
On the outside, a preserved brick facade seamlessly blends into the charming streets of Todos Santos. Inside it’s all clean lines and polished concrete, providing a modern feel.
With just 15 rooms, Hotel Casa Tota is small and cosy, with no unnecessary extras.
Advertising themselves as ‘proudly modest’, you will have a laidback, authentic experience.
A small pool sits in the centre of a charming courtyard, and the rooftop terrace offers the perfect place to rest and relax after a day exploring Todos Santos.

4. Guaycura Boutique Hotel, Beach Club & Spa
Todos Santos Centro – $$$
Situated in the heart of Todos Santos, Guaycura Boutique Hotel is housed in a historic red-brick building. A style that is so iconic to Todos Santos.
The 14 rooms are simply decorated in Mexican style, but the best part of the hotel is its rooftop pool, bar and restaurant which is the perfect place to watch the sunset.
In addition to its presence in the centre of town, Guaycura also manages the El Faro Beach Club & Spa on the coast, an approximately 10-minute drive from the hotel.
Guests get complimentary access to the beach club, and it’s a great spot to spend the day soaking up some sun, sea and sand on lounges around the beachfront pool.
If sustainability is an important factor when deciding where to stay in Todos Santos, Guaycura Boutique Hotel is a fantastic choice for conscious travellers.
With a number of sustainability initiatives in place, the hotel is run on solar power, and they are involved with a number of environmental and community initiatives.

Where to stay in El Otro Lado and Las Tunas
If you choose to stay in El Otro Lado or Las Tunas you will be right in the heart of up-and-coming Todos Santos. You can still enjoy the dusty roads and rural feel, with funky cafes and restaurants at your fingertips. Most options here are within walking distance of the beach.

5. Perro Surfero
El Otro Lado – $
Perro Surfero is perfectly located in El Otro Lado, almost equal distance between downtown Todos Santos and the beach.
Perro Surfero offers private accommodation with private bathrooms, with a laidback hostel-style feel. It is a fantastic choice for those wanting to stay in Todos Santos on a budget, without sacrificing a private, boutique experience.
The rooms are uniquely furnished and range in size and style. Each has an outdoor patio area.
The communal spaces around the property are beautiful, with a large shared kitchen (including free filtered water and coffee) and plenty of spaces to work on your laptop.
There is a swimming pool to lounge around, an outdoor fire pit area, a small gym, and a yoga terrace. They even have bikes available to guests, making getting around town a lot easier.

6. Tribu Todos Santos
Las Tunas – $$
Formerly known as Pachamama, this property has been rebranded as Tribu Todos Santos.
Located on an empty beachfront in Las Tunas, this Todos Santos boutique hotel has a focus on wellness and yoga retreats.
You can choose from villa-style rooms or traditional adobe teepees.
The teepees take glamping to the next level, with private bathrooms, air conditioning and the perfect photo opp!
The hotel features an oceanfront infinity pool with stunning views, a yoga room with equipment, a communal kitchen and an outdoor fire pit.
If you’re looking to unplug and unwind, Tribu is a great choice.
They also have a property in El Pescadero too, if you’d prefer to be closer to Cerritos Beach.

7. Desierto Azul
Las Tunas – $$$
Desierto Azul is desert boho vibes at its finest.
With a jaw-dropping design and aesthetic throughout the property, this small sustainable hotel has just four rooms.

8. Villa Santa Cruz
Las Tunas – $$$$
Of all the hotels in Todos Santos, Villa Santa Cruz is the epitome of luxury.
This Todos Santos icon is situated on a quiet stretch of sand outside of Las Tunas, and you will be completely disconnected from everyday life.
There are 15 ocean-view rooms, with four different styles of room to choose from.
The beachfront tented suites offer a five-star glamping experience, while the elevated bungalows feature large open patios with sweeping sea views. There are two villas, the main and the north, that contain more hotel-style rooms. But don’t worry, these are no ordinary hotel suites!
Daily breakfast is included, and coffee and freshly baked muffins are delivered to your room each morning.
The hotel restaurant uses produce grown at their on-site farm, and the property is also home to The Green Room, a popular Todos Santos restaurant.
Villa Santa Cruz has the environment and community at the heart of its operation.
With a big focus on farm-to-table produce, reducing food, organic and plastic waste and disposing of it correctly where elimination is not possible. Solar energy is used to heat the pool, and cleaning products and food that can’t be grown on-site are sourced locally.

Where to stay in Cerritos Beach and El Pescadero
Located 20 minutes south of Todos Santos, the small agricultural town of El Pescadero is becoming a destination in its own right. Its main beach, Cerritos Beach, is one of the best surf breaks in Mexico and there is a good range of cafes and restaurants in El Pescadero.

9. Pescadero Surf Camp
El Pescadero – $
Pescadero Surf Camp is a laidback, affordable option located between the town centre of El Pescadero and Cerritos Beach.
It has the option for camping (in a tent, or RV/van), as well as a number of small casitas.
The cheaper casitas share a bathroom, while the larger ones feature a private bathroom as well as a private rooftop patio on top of the room.
Whilst distinctly not a hostel, and not a campground, Pescadero Surf Camp is the perfect mix of the two.
It has a large outdoor shared kitchen, shared bathrooms, a pool and plenty of communal hang-out spaces, without the noisy party scene of some hotels.
The vibe here is wonderful and couldn’t mesh better with the cruisy pace of El Pescadero.
Even if you’re on a budget, you don’t have to sacrifice on experience and Pescadero Surf Camp feels like a simple boutique hotel. It is the perfect spot to slow down and chill out for a few days.

10. Cerritos Surf Town
Cerritos Beach – $$
If you want to stay on the sand in El Pescadero, Cerritos Surf Town is the best option.
Located right in the middle of Cerritos Beach, the property is stunning!
Rooms are self-contained villas, some right on the beach and others with garden views.
They also have a more budget-friendly bungalow option on the beach, with shared bathrooms.
Their pool and restaurant area overlook the waves, and the entire area is just beautiful.
The on-site restaurant serves up optional daily breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks throughout the day.
It doesn’t get much better than falling asleep to the sound of the waves, waking up just steps from the water for a morning swim or surf, and relaxing by the pool in the afternoon sunshine.

11. Hotel So Far So Good
Cerritos Beach – $$$
A brand new sustainable hotel in the heart of Cerritos Beach, Hotel So Far So Good features stunning, Baja-style rooms.
Lower-level rooms feature private plunge pools, and upper floor suites have large soaking bathtubs.
The on-site vegan restaurant serves up fresh, plant-based food with minimal waste, and the entire hotel is powered by solar power, stored in batteries. There are water filtration systems that collect grey water and recycle it in the gardens, and no single-use plastics are used throughout the property.
Hotel So Far So Good provides guests with free bike hire, free surfboard hire, on-site yoga and meditation classes and shared rooftop terrace spaces with grills and outdoor kitchens.

12. Paradero
El Pescadero – $$$$
Architecture lovers, this one is for you. Paradero is an ultra-luxury architectural hotel that was designed to be in complete harmony with the surrounding desert and agricultural environment.
With 35 suites available, guests can choose from lower-level rooms with features like hammocks and soaking hot tubs. Alternatively, their second-level Sky Suites feature suspended star nets, from which you can float above the landscape and gaze at the clear, starry night sky.
If the design wasn’t unique enough, Paradero is an experience-based hotel with a daily roster of activities in and around the hotel to encourage guests to immerse themselves in the landscape and culture of the area. Think morning yoga classes, surfing lessons, guided hikes and street food tours.
The on-site fine dining restaurant serves up fresh, high-quality food from morning to night, with an emphasis on seasonal produce and freshly caught local seafood.
Sustainability is embedded in every aspect of the hotel, from the conscious design to the absence of plastic and non-biodegradable products.

Thank you for bringing up Tres Santos and not to stay there.I lived on the Baja for about 20 years,owning property in both El Sargento and Pescadero on the beach. It was something that all locals, foreign or native did not want. That was the fisherman’s beach, where the pongeros launched and we could buy fresh fish from the pongeros. It was also a great beach to just lay back, take a swim and read a book. Unfortunately, more tourists dilute the experience. I feel fortunate that I got to windsurf Baja, a sport you neglected to mention in your blog about LA Ventana, and sport fishing. There decades before kiting. And,it’s not a free for all to do business. If you buy property in MX, you pay taxes and fees and bank fideicomso. Your post would be better if you actually researched what you were posting and not spreading delusions of living on the Baja. Sincerely, Amy

AmyHi Amy, I’m not quite sure what point you’re trying to make here. Tres Santos is a very sad scenario for everyone in Todos Santos. The damage has now been done and its irreversible. In regards to living in Baja, I have never said it’s a ‘free for all’, but it’s undeniable that foreign businesses can price out local ones. Especially in seasonal locations like La Ventana, when many don’t stay around all year either. I would love to live in Baja, it would be a wonderful place to live and there is nothing wrong with expats moving there. But it’s ignorant to not believe it changes things for the locals, including pricing them out of their own homes. Regards, Sally
